ABOUT US

Sanskar India Foundation (SIF) is a registered not-for-profit organization working in the field of civic, social and environmental awareness as well as in education, mainly in Mumbai, since 2004.
What began as a pilot project in just 3 schools, our ‘Sanskar’ programme impacted students and teachers, alike, in over 150 schools over the last 20 years.

This unique program which continues to be relevant and impactful, is successfully running in multiple educational institutions across Mumbai.

Recognising E-Waste as one of the fastest growing and most toxic waste streams in the world, we launched “Wired For Change”- our E-Waste awareness program, including collection drives across Mumbai, in 2022.

Sanskar India Foundation also conducts workshops, campaigns, talks and drives to highlight important environmental, health and social concerns.

SIF aims to create a class of citizens who are not just sensitive to environmental, social and civic concerns but are also committed toward developing solutions for a better tomorrow.

SIF’s mission is to constantly strive to create awareness and sensitization among children and adults alike on various social, civic, health and environmental issues along with promoting practices that foster such thinking.

After a year of research, SIF launched its flagship programme, ‘Sanskar’ as a pilot in three schools in 2004. Unique and innovative, both in methodology and content, ‘Sanskar’ deals with all civic and environmental problems of today as well as associated social and health problems, taught in a participative and fun-filled manner. Conducted in weekly sessions all year long, it empowers children to make informed and environmentally responsible choices. From three schools and one language in 2004, our canvas has grown to multiple educational institutions across Mumbai in three languages.

Our new initiative ‘Wired For Change’ aims at tackling the latest environmental threat of Electronic and Electrical Waste. E-Waste is one of the most toxic and fastest growing waste stream in the world, India being the 3rd largest producer of E-Waste.

Informal and irresponsible disposal of E-Waste is resulting in air, water and soil pollution, causing various life-threatening illnesses. These disturbing facts and the enormity of the environmental disaster in the making spurred us to launch an E-waste awareness campaign across Mumbai since September 2022.

SIF has also conducted a number of tree plantation drives, organ donation awareness workshops, clean up drives, citizen activation movements at public places, human chains, rallies, eco-friendly festival workshops as well as programs for economically backward women. Health camps, informative talks, cleanliness drives, nutrition and skill development workshops have been conducted for women and children in the community.
