A month long massive campaign for an eco-friendly Diwali conducted by SIF across 150 schools and centres culminated with an event on 6th Nov on Marine Drive. Around 250 children from Navy Children’s School, Army Public School and Alexander School marched on Marine Drive holding colourful posters and placards with effective messages against firecrackers. Playing the role of responsible citizens these kids educated passersby about the hazardous effects of firecrackers on health and environment. Highlighting the plight of animals terrified by crackers and children involved in their manufacture, our young ambassadors successfully convinced hundreds of adults to give up crackers this Diwali.

All through October, 2015, SIF conducted workshops in 150 schools to spread awareness on the harmful effects of firecrackers and eco-friendly ways to celebrate the festival of lights. Thousands of inspired students pledged to have eco-friendly celebrations and went all out to spread the message through skits, assembly talks, posters, human chains and signature campaigns.
